Stay hydrated without compromising on style. These playful hand made terracotta jugs by AnanTaya celebrate the craft of ‘Matka’, the traditional Indian water pot. The clay pitchers are alkaline (helping to create a proper pH balance), porous and made from natural products only.
Taking inspiration for the spout from birds, this unusual jug is called 'Tweet'. Terracotta has been widely used since ancient times, the reduction fired pottery keeps water cool naturally. The swank hand thrown terracotta jug is mounted with a turned solid acacia wooden spin-top. It's super easy to clean and refill. Earthenware is porous, the jugs work on the principle of vaporization, which helps in cooling down the water. Being a plastic free jug, it is better for the environment and better for you.
As a result of being beautifully handcrafted, the products might vary slightly in size. Finished variations and slight differences are part of the artisanal nature of the product.
AnanTaya, our partner showcases UNESCO award winning home decor infused with Indian culture whilst being designed for a contemporary international lifestyle.
Use & Care: We recommend standing the jug on a coaster, to collect water that can seep out of tiny pores. After constant use, the pores can get saturated by tiny solids from the pot or water. To remove white deposits, soak terracotta in a mixture of 1 part white vinegar to 20 parts water for 30 minutes. Use hot water and gentle non-abrasive cleaning pad to scrub away any deposits.
